Chennai: Ceiling fan falls in corporation school, 2 students hurt

Police officers and school authorities pacified the agitated parents who sought answers about the safety of the building.

Chennai: Two children, aged 6 and 5, had a close shave, escaping with injuries after the ceiling fan fell off in a classroom of the corporation middle school in Sathyamoorthy Nagar, Thiruvottiyur.

The incident happened around 10 am. Class was underway for class 1 students when the ceiling fan fell down. 

Monisha (6) was injured on her right cheek after one of the blades of the fan hit her while Ganesan (5) suffered injuries on his head, police said. Both the children were immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment and were declared out of danger. However, word spread and parents gathered outside the school lending a tense atmosphere. Police officers and school authorities pacified the agitated parents who sought answers about the safety of the building.

Most of them took their children back home following the incident.
