Telangana: 13 Narayana, 16 Chaitanya colleges fined
The penalised corporate colleges are not allowed to register for the affiliation process till they pay the fine
Hyderabad: Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has penalised 13 Narayana Junior Colleges and 16 Sri Chaitanya Junior Colleges for violation of norms, said A. Ashok, the secretary of Board of Intermediate Education, on Wednesday.
Narayana Junior colleges were fined Rs 62.72 lakh and Sri Chaitanya Junior Colleges Rs 1.4 crore for indulging in irregularities like unauthorised additional classrooms and poor laboratories among others after a check by the vigilance department in May.
The penalised corporate colleges are not allowed to register for the affiliation process till they pay the fine. If the managements pay the fine, they will be allowed to apply for the affiliation process upto August 10.
Responding on the allegations of corruption, the board said, “Online affiliation process was introduced to remove human interface, reduce corruption and to bring transparency. Everything is online and there is no human interface. Colleges will get affiliation only if they upload the right documents on the website. After scrutiny, affiliation status will be sent to the college through the online system. There is no scope of manipulation of certificates or system because everything is programmed.”
