Policy on waste discussed at Secretariat
The principal secretary said that the door to door collection and segregation of garbage should be improved in all the local urban bodies in the state
Hyderabad: A meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday discussed the draft policy on solid waste management rules. Principal Secretary for Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar said that the solid waste management policy should be relooked at keeping in view of the 68 newly constituted municipalities. Mr Kumar also stressed on the need to work out a strategy to improve source segregation, transportation, processing and disposal of garbage in the newly constituted municipalities.
The principal secretary said that the door to door collection and segregation of garbage should be improved in all the local urban bodies in the state. He also added that instructions should be passed to all ULBs to strictly enforce on the treatment of bio waste. Dr T.K. Sridevi said that 40 ULBs are manufacturing compost while 30 dry resource collection centers are functioning in the ULBs. Professor Srinivas Chary of Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) also participated in the meeting.
