Hyderabad: The TRS has termed its president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao as “Telangana Gandhi” as he brought the “gram swarajya” dreamt by Mahatma Gandhi by converting tribal thandas and gudems as gram panchayats from Thursday.
Addressing a press conference here, TRS MLC Ramulu Naik said, “Tribal thandas in Telangana got real independence on August 2. Thanks to CM KCR, tribals can now rule their own panchayats. Our CM has enhanced the self-respect and self-confidence of tribals. Their decades-long dream of self rule has been fulfilled by the CM. Tribals now adore KCR as Telangana Gandhi.”
Mr Naik said that though India attained independence 70 years ago, the tribals in Telangana got real independence on Thurs-day because of Mr Rao. “The successive governments during the last 70 years only treated tribals as mere vote bank. But the TRS government took a revolutionary decision. This will go a long way in the overall development of agency areas,” he said.
