Derogatory messages against deity: Probe ordered

Mangaluru: Derogatory messages against Kateel Sri Durgadevi and other Hindu deities on social media has annoyed the people of Dakshina Kannada district. Various organistions have demanded strict action against those behind this. Three cases have been registered at three police stations. Two cases are filed in City Police limits and one at Bantwal coming under DK district police. Deorgatory messages were allegedly being circulated on social media for the past few days. Bantwal and Bunder police had registered a case two days ago, the management of Kateel temple registered a complaint at Bajpe police station on Friday. “Devotees are annoyed by the messages being circulated in the social media and want action against those who have posted such messages,” Sriharinarayana Asranna, archak and family member of the temple trustee told DC.
