Hyderabad: 165 teams for smooth Ganesh festivities

Hyderabad: This year the municipal corporation for the 11 days Ganesh festivities has spent around Rs 5 crore towards preparations. For safety and smooth immersion and celebrations, the corporation has deployed 165  Ganesh action teams every three to four kilometres.  

A GAT has one sanitary supervisor, jawan, three sweepers and 21 workers, all working in three  shifts.

Around 236 vehicles are deployed for immersion, and over 33,000 additional street lights have been provided. Cranes have been set up at various immersion sites, 27 cranes at Hussainsagar, 18 at Tankbund and nine at NTR marg. 

Besides these three main immersion sites, there are 25 immersion ponds and each of these ponds has one crane each. Immersion has been allowed at 25 tanks, namely Kapra Cheruvu, Saroornagar, Rajanna Bavi, Miralam Tank, Palle Cheruvu, Patti Kunta Cheruvu, Durgam Cheruvu, Malkam Cheruvu, Gopinagar Cheruvu, Pedda Cheruvu, Gangaram,  Gurunatham Cheruvu, J.P. Nagar,  Kaidamma Kunta, Hafizpet,  Erla Cheruvu, Majeera Road, Vinayaka Nagar, Rayasamudram Lake, RC Puram,  Sakicheruvu, Patancheruvu, IDL Tank

Pragathinagar Cheruvu,  Hasmathpet cheruvu,  Sunnam Cheruvu, Pariki Cheruvu,  Venellagadda Cheruvu Suraram Cheruvu, Kotha Cheruvu (Alwal lake), Safilguda Lake.

The final immersion day is September 5 and the state government has declared the day as a holiday. Immersion will begin from 6 am. Previously, immersion used to continue on the next day too, but this time the managing state agencies intend to complete immersion on September 5.
