Insects found in laddu at Kanakadurga temple

Vijayawada: Devotees were angry with the insects found in the laddu prasadam at Kanakadurga temple on Sunday.
Temple officials threw away the spoilt 50,000 laddus and ordered to prepare fresh laddu prasadam on the new premises of Mahamandapam.
The officials said on the occasion of Navaratri, they had to produce more number of laddus to cater to all the devotees. With this, they had to make use of the old building for the preparation of laddu prasadam, which has no proper measures to prevent this kind of a situation. The reflection of the flood lights on prasadam has attracted insects causing the damage. The temple employees, without noticing it, have taken the laddus to the counter along with the laddus prepared in the new building.
“We now are taking preventive measures and strictly ordered for the production of laddu prasadam only in the new building.” said Kanakadurga temple executive officer A. Suryakumari and added that as it is Navaratri festival they have special staff on duty. But as per the demand, they couldn’t get enough staff. This caused lack of coordination leading to the unpleasant situation. The executive officer that disciplinary action would be taken against the staff who were responsible for this situation.
A devotee C. Sivakumar said it is very bad to see the negligence of the officials during the peak time of Navaratri festival. “We request them to take necessary steps to avoid such kind of incidents,” he added.
