replication of stunts from the Baahubali movie was an unfortunate trend that was catching on with teenagers.
Adilabad: “Baahubali deaths” have begun occurring at the waterfalls in old Adilabad district. Youth try to jump off or climb waterfalls in an attempt to recreate the stunts enacted onscreen by Baahubali and end up suffering serious injuries or even drowning.
In the movie Baahubali, the character of Mahendra Baahubali, which is played by actor Prabhas, climbs a waterfall in search of a beautiful woman. Youngsters and teenagers are now attempting to recreate his heroics in real life.
In a recent incident, Jadhav Suresh, a student of class 8, drowned at the Mitte Jalapatham in Lingapur mandal of Kumarambheem of Asifabad district, while trying to perform stunts while chanting “Jai Baahubali”. The boy was native of Lingapur mandal headquarters.
The cause of his death only came to light when spectators who had warned him against performing stunts recounted the incident to their friends and acquaintances.
Raja Reddy, an eye-witness to the death of Suresh, told this newspaper that he and others had warned the boy against jumping into the falls like Baahubali, but he paid no heed to their advice and ended up drowning. He added that the replication of stunts from the Baahubali movie was an unfortunate trend that was catching on with teenagers. He said that steps should be taken by officials to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and to sensitize the youth against the performance of stunts.
