Bengaluru: Two 17-year-old PU students met a watery grave at the famous Thottikallu Falls (TK Falls) on Kanakapura Road on Saturday.
The deceased, Sharan and John Kennedy, residents of Sadduguntepalya, were PUC students at a private college in the city and had gone to TK Falls along with their friends for an outing.
When they reached the falls, the two began playing in water, while their friends who did not know swimming sat at a distance. Sharan and John began heading towards deep waters despite warnings from their friends. Soon after, they got stuck in the silt and drowned. Their friends raised an alarm but there was no one around to rescue the two. They then rushed towards the village and brought a few localities with them. By the time villagers reached the spot, the duo had drowned and were nowhere to be seen.
The Kaggalipura police along with a rescue team rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies after over two hours of search operations. The bodies were sent to the Kanakapura Government Hospital for postmortem and were later handed over to their families. The case was transferred to Bannerghatta police who are investigating the case.
