Andhra Pradesh: Engineers don't make good talaris
The talari is the lowest position in the administrative hierarchy of the revenue department of AP.
Kurnool: The Kurnool district administration is in a fix over how to extract work from the recently recruited village revenue assistants (VRAs) due to their high qualifications. Most of them are engineers and management graduates.
The village revenue assistant or talari is the lowest position in the administrative hierarchy of the revenue department of Andhra Pradesh. The qualification for the job is 10th class. Many engineering graduates and post-graduates got selected recently. The district administration finds it difficult to extract work from these qualified techies.
The job profile of a VRA is to assist the village revenue officer (VRO). They are paid a monthly salary of Rs 6,500. There is a demand to hike the salary to Rs 15,000 per month. V. Prassanna Venkatesh, joint collector of Kurnool district, said that these people are highly qualified and we have to orient them to work in the system.
