Health emergency in Telanagana state: N Ramchander Rao
MLC Rao said that the state government seems to be in the hands of the hospital mafia.
Hyderabad: Taking a jab at the state government over the growing dengue cases, BJP MLC N. Ramchander Rao demanded the declaration of a health emergency and said that the government should be held responsible for the deaths of so many dengue patients.
MLC Rao said that the state government seems to be in the hands of the hospital mafia. There is a doubt as to whether the mafia is behind the total neglect of the health department. Hundreds of people across Telangana state are suffering from dengue and the BJP does not understand the reason for the lack of action to make appropriate arrangements to tackle the alarming situation.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, he said: “Four people of a family died of dengue in Mancherial district over a period of 15 days and over 10,000 cases of dengue and associated fevers have been reported. The government is responsible for the death of dengue patients and criminal cases must be filed against the government for neglecting public health.”
He said, “The government has totally failed to implement the Central government funding programmes and prevent the public from contracting diseases like malaria and dengue. In cities like Hyderabad, anti-larvae treatments have been fully funded by the Central government for mosquito prevention. If the Centre is funding the states under the National Malaria Eradication Programme (NMEP), the state government should at least allocate funds to purchase medicines for diseases like malaria and dengue.
