Hyderabad: State government employees associations have joined hands to fight against Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and demand restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). The associations, with representatives from all 31 districts, which met at Ravindra Bharathi here on Saturday and decided to launch a united fight against the CPS. Employees have set up an umbrella organisation, Telangana State Contributory Pension Scheme Employees Union (TSCPSEU), and elected leaders to lead the agitation programmes.
Telangana CPS Employees Association president G. Sthitha Pragna was elected first president of the union. “We will continue our agitation programmes till CPS is scrapped and OPS is restored. We have suffered a lot during the last 13 years since CPS was introduced in 2004. We will hold a rally with 3 lakh employees,” he said.
He said employees had lost a day’s salary after going on leave en masse on September 1 against the CPS. “We are ready to lose any number of days of salary to meet our demand. We will continue our agitation programmes till CPS is abolished. This is high time the state government reviews CPS and abolishes it to protect the interests of employees,” Mr Sthitha Pragna said.
