The motel guest, Eric Devon Turner, has since surrendered before the San Bernardino police.
Mysuru: Abhishek Sudhesh Bhat, a 25-year-old student of the California State University in San Bernardino , who was shot dead last week, will be cremated by his family in the U.S., according to his father, Sudhesh Chandra, who said he and his wife and other son hope to arrive in the U.S. on Thursday, to carry out the necessary rituals.
Abhishek, who had graduated from Mysuru's Vidya Vikas College with an engineering degree, was in California for the last two years pursuing his masters degree in computer science, when he was shot dead by a customer at the motel where he had been working part- time.
The motel guest, Eric Devon Turner, has since surrendered before the San Bernardino police. Turner had overstayed at the motel and allegedly grew angry when Abhishek called him thrice to remind him that he needed to check out and even rang the bell of the room when he paid no attention.
Health minister, B. Sriramulu, who met Mr Chandra, a yoga guru at the Sri Upanishath Yoga Centre Trust in Mysuru, had promised to help the family get a visa to the U.S. as soon as possible.
A crowdfunding platform, gofundme.com, has reportedly raised $37,000 through an online campaign to support Abhishek's family in its hour of trial.
