KURNOOL: Adoni MLA Y. Sai Prasad Reddy termed Janmabhoomi as a flop show and ridiculed the TD for taking the public for a ride without any official participation. People are disillusioned with Janmabhoomi and revenue officials gave a skip knowing the public pulse, he said. Where is the RDO who has to coordinate the Janmabhhomi with various stake holders, he questioned. Pattikonda, represented by revenue minister K.E. Krishna Murthy falls under this divison. Speaking to this correspondent, Mr Reddy said that Adoni revenue divisional officer (RDO) Obulesu has come in for sharp criticism for shirking away his responsibilities as defacto nodal officer for Janmabhoomi. Instead, he was pursuing the “treasure hunt” at Chennampalli Fort, he added.

Even when Revenue Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy launched the phase five of Janmabhoomi at Pattikonda, the RDO was absent at the function sending strong signals of defiance, said a TD leader. Being an RDO, it was his responsibility to organise, liason, and supervise the Janmabhoomi programme, grade the petitions, dispose individual family need, non-financial community need, procure and allot vehicles and give publicity for the success of the program. The RDO was not available for comment. However, special collector Subba Reddy who was also on fort duty said he was taking part in the programme.

Telugu Desam District President Somisetty Venkateswarlu when contacted said that the cooperation of officers is essential for the success of the program. If any  officer is not available, it fails the party in power to satisfy the needs of the people. We request the district administration to carry on the Janmabhoomi programme with responsibility, he added. There are 17 mandals in Adoni division comprising Adoni, Alur, Apsari, Chippagiri, Devanakonda, Gonegandla, Halaharvi, Holagunda, Kosigi, Kowthalam, Maddikera, Mantralayam, Nandavaram, Pattikonda, Pedda kadabur, Tuggali, Yemmiganur.
