KURNOOL: Kurnool MLA constituency is witnessing a contest between sitting MLA S.V. Mohan Reddy and the strong challenger Tumbalam Gooty Bharat, famously known as T.G. Bharat. Even though elections are well over 15 months away, the people are getting curious as to who the ruling party would choose.
Putting his foot down, the sitting MLA thunders that he will be the candidate, come what may. But the challenger has amused himself for pushing the defender to the fence, feel observers.

Frustrated over the attempts to dislodge him from contest, S.V. Mohan Reddy shared his displeasure with the media that some forces are trying to create confusion in the minds of the people. “I am here to serve the people of Kurnool who have elected me,” he said. Few people have been spreading rumours stating that I would be contesting from Pattikonda or Allagadda, both seats represented by two strong ministers in the state. He said the party high command knows who is doing what and who can build party and win the seat, he added.

When contacted, T.G. Bharat said that he is a strong contender for Kurnool seat. The constituency was nurtured by his father T.G. Venkatesh who as a minister and lawmaker took up several developmental activities in the city. “People know who is better for them. Who could serve them better,” he said. T.G. Bharath (41) struck a chord with the youth of the city and has been engaging with the current generation with several activities through charitable trusts.

“Every street in Kurnool bears the insignia of the T.G. family. That is our strength,” he added. I understand that elections are a year hence from now. But as a service-oriented person, I am with the people of the city and they want change. Kurnool wants to see the change that a youngster can bring about, he exuded with confidence. “Yes I am in the race. I am a strong contender for TD from Kurnool”, he emphatically said when asked.
