Hyderabad: ‘Hoist flag to send message’
About 1,000 national flags were distributed after Juma prayers.
Hyderabad: National flags have been distributed amongst the Musallis of Shahi Masjid, Public Garden. Imam and Khateeb Moulana Dr Ahsan bin Mohammed Alhamoomi urged devotees to hoist national flags atop their homes, shops, offices and business establishments to send out a silent message to those who doubt their patriotism.
About 1,000 national flags were distributed after Juma prayers. They were distributed to the Musallis of the mosque in the backdrop of ongoing protests against CAA, NRC and NPA. Moulana Mohammed bin Abdur Rahman Mahfooz, former Imam and Khatib of Shahi Masjid, distributed the flags. He said our countrymen fought unitedly against British rule, but unfortunately now they are being discriminated against based on religion. We have to resist this.
Moulana Ahsan bin Mohammed Alhamoomi said, “Our patriotism is beyond any doubt. Our ancestors had laid down their lives for this country and this fervency has not been dulled. Every religion teaches compassion, brotherhood and tolerance. There should not be differences among people based on religion. The national flag is a flag under which all Indians come together.”
He said now people of every cast and creed are agitating united against the amendments carried out in the Citizenship Act, which discriminates against one community. “We have no objection if the persecuted citizens of other countries are awarded citizenship of India, but it should be rational and without any religious discrimination,” he said.
