Closures allow people to process and come to terms with their emotions as 70% of Indians strongly believe that the act of letting go of past relationships before the new year has a profound positive impact on one's emotional well-being.
In fact, the majority (70%) of Indians surveyed believe in committing to newer experiences in the new year. There is a sense of optimism and excitement as 53% of single Indians surveyed say they want to find a partner in 2024.
Samarpita Samaddar, India Communications Director at Bumble shares: “Whether you’re looking for something casual, or want to go with the flow or you’re interested in finding a long-term relationship, now is the best time to set your dating intentions right. Reflecting on the year past and thinking through how you want to move forward in 2024 is a good way to start the new year! Think about who and how you want to date and be intentional about what you’re looking for in a partner in 2024 - this clarity can help you find newer and better dating experiences.
As you embrace clean slating, start with reflecting on your Bumble profile - does something not feel authentic to you? Are your photos recent? Are your interests still the same? Did anything fun happen in the last year you want to highlight? Then go for it and jazz it up!”
Ruchi Ruuh, Relationship Expert at Bumble, shares tips on how you can approach dating in 2024 and ace Clean Slatting:
- It’s important that we acknowledge that the past is behind us, and learn to appreciate the journey you've had. Show yourself love and gratitude as you embrace the new year.
- Channel your energy toward personal growth and do things you love. Pursue a new hobby, set new goals, try out that passion you have been putting off, and invest time in things that bring you joy and fulfilment.
- Move on: It might seem the most difficult thing to do but take steps towards it. Let go of ex-es and create emotional distance. Allow yourself the space and time needed to move on and get closure.
- No ‘Revenge’: Focus on forgiving past experiences, learn from mistakes, and avoid a ‘revenge’ mindset. Forgiveness may not be easy but helps one to move on in life.
- Re-energinze: Cultivate positivity by detaching from negative influences and surround yourself with positive, like-minded individuals. You can try making a daily gratitude list, or spending quality time alone with nature to harness its healing energy and release past emotional baggage.
