Hyderabad: While Osmania University is looking up to the governments at the Centre and the state to pitch in generously for its centenary celebrations starting on April 26, the varsity alumni is lending a helping hand. After a series of meetings in the districts in recent weeks, a conclave of the ‘nationalist alumni’ of Osmania will be held on Sunday.

According to Dr. K. Sunil Kumar of the meet’s organising committee, they have reached out to nearly 4,000 individuals so far. The conclave brings all Osmanians with a “nationalist ideology” on one platform to put in spirited efforts to augment resources for the centennial celebrations and the varsity’s future development, he said.

K. Krishna Rao of the organising committee, said they would try to impress upon the alumni, many of them well-established in business and industry, to sponsor the renovation works of the OU building. “Renovation of the old Tagore Auditorium to make it modern with AC facilities will cost around Rs 50 lakh.”
