HMDA generates Rs 52 crore in a month

Hyderabad: For the first time ever, the HMDA has generated Rs 52 crore in a month by issuing building and layout permissions. In January, it issued permissions for about 3,000 buildings, 200 gated communities and 1,000 layouts.

The previous highest was in Rs 42 crore in April 2017, when it cleared 2,600 building and layout applications.

The HMDA said that due to the real estate boom it had received twice the number of applications for building and layout permissions over last year. The numbers had shot up after the Assembly elections.

He said the HMDA which had disposed of 600 building and layout permission applications until December has cleared 4,200 applications alone in January.

The official said that if the trend continued, the planning department would generate at least Rs 300 crore by the end of the financial year.

In six months starting from July, the HMDA has approved 458 draft layouts, 18 drafts for gated communities and one for setting up a clubhouse. It has issued 53 occupancy certificates, 101 building permissions for setting up industries and 62 final layouts.
