Hidayah college called ‘fake’
On Monday, the students staged a protest against the management of the institute.
Hyderabad: The Hidayah College of Education has allegedly cheated 66 students who had taken admission for the Bachelor in Education course. The students said they came to know that the institute was fake only when they did not get their hall tickets for the semester exams which began on February 1.
On Monday, the students staged a protest against the management of the institute. They also filed a police complaint with the Asifnagar police.
One of the students. Ms Salwa Shireen, alleged that the institute was fake and that it did not provide admission numbers to most students. “The management has cheated all students,” she alleged.
“We had classes and we were made to write records, but everything turned out to be fake as they did not allow us to write the semester exams,” she alleged.
The college claims that it is affiliated to Osmania University. When this correspondent checked the list of affiliated colleges, the name ‘Hidayah College of Education’ was not found on the Osmania University website.
The institute had allegedly collected amounts ranging from `60,000 to `1 lakh as the fee as well as `3,000 for the semester exams that it neither conducted nor gave hall tickets, said another student.
When contacted, a police official said that the college was not registered anywhere nor was it affiliated with any university. He said that it was a fake college. Police has taken the complaint from the students and registered a case of cheating and started investigations.
This correspondent tried contacting the college management for its version, but the mobile phone number that is available on the fee receipt was switched off.
