Hyderabad: Special drive to enforce helmets
Police said 2700 motorists were checked and 2300 cases were booked for not using helmets and other violations.
Hyderabad: The police fined 2,300 people on Friday in a special drive conducted against drivers without helmets, driving licence and insurance.
Police said there is no change in the attitude of people towards traffic laws even though many special drives have been conducted against motorists who had no helmets and documents.
Police said 2700 motorists were checked and 2300 cases were booked for not using helmets and other violations. 92 were produced in court for driving without licence.
Malakpet traffic ACP T. Amarkanth Reddy said, “Drivers without helmets and licence will be produced in court.” We were surprised to know that there are many people in Malakpet who have not cleared challans pending since 2010. When we enquired we understood that they were not aware about the challans."
