Availing water and electricity connections, less cumbersome for ordinary buildings in Chennai, will soon become tougher thanks to a circular dated February 16, by the member secretary of Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority.

HYDERABAD: Begumpet residents are complaining about irregular water supply. They are also claiming that for the last ten days the supplied water is getting mixed with drain water.

Sharing his experience, Mr Param, a resident of Kundanbagh says, “We have a huge drinking water problem, with the water getting mixed up with sewage water for the last 10 days. To be precise from February 22. This is happening near Nest Apartments and Srivatsa Apartments near Methodist Colony. We have registered a complaint with CAN numbers-62135434 and 612678404-with the Water Board but the problem is yet to be resolved. Even though the Water Bard has identified the problem they have not managed to fix it permanently.”

Echoing his concern, Mr Sudhakar, another resident says that the water supply has been stopped in his neighbourhood and HMWS&SB has supplied two water tankers in the last three weeks for 26 families. He says that the contamination with sewage water has happened due to a pipeline repair work being done.

Mr Sudharkar adds, “Nine persons in my knowledge have fallen ill during a week due to drinking this contaminated water.” The Water Board officials have been unavailable for any comment on this.
