Chennai: After Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram, Chennai is slowly embracing innovative ways to create voter awareness among all sections of society.  From sand art campaigns to roping in the textile and hospitality sectors in the city, the EC has kick-started serious awareness campaigns since Friday.

As provided by the election commission, Adyar Ananda Bhavan has started distributing degradable shopping bags with an encouraging message — ‘May 16 - don’t forget to vote.’ Speaking to DC, managing director of Adyar Ananda Bhavan group of hotels, K.T. Srinivasa Raja said that the bags would reach over one lakh families in the state. “Through electronic video van, we are displaying awareness messages in the crowded localities like Kapaleeswar temple, Koyambedu market etc. We are optimistic that this measure will get people to vote,” said sources from Chennai corporation.
