One killed, eight hurt in mishap in Nalgonda

The mishap occurred when car driver R. Suresh lost control and the vehicle plunged into the Pedda Vagu canal.

Hyderabad: A car driver from Hyderabad was killed and eight others were injured in an accident in Nalgonda on Saturday midnight, police said. The mishap occurred when car driver R. Suresh lost control and the vehicle plunged into the Pedda Vagu canal. Four passengers in the car suffered serious injuries. Four others escaped with minor injuries. Driver Suresh died on the spot.

Alari SI M. Narsimhulu said that around 20 people from Hyderabad went to Palakurthi in Warangal on Saturday in two cars to attend a funeral. After the funeral they started their journey back around 10.30 pm. Around 11.30 pm, the two cars reached the Alair Pedda Vagu bridge. “Due to the headlights of oncoming vehicles the driver of the second car R. Suresh lost control. As the bridge had no railing at the spot the car fell into the 10 feet deep canal,” Mr Narsimhulu said.

The four who were seriously injured were shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad. A case of causing death by negligence was registered and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. The victims in Gandhi Hospital is out of danger.
