Bengaluru: Majority of ATMs across the city have gone dry since last Wednesday and customers are greeted by ‘no cash’ boards at ATMs across all banks branches. It was initially thought that ATMs were running out of cash as banks were closed for Ugadi and April 1, for annual closing of accounts, but ATMs have still seen no cash.

Ms Meenakshi, a techie at a software firm in Koramangala, said that she received her salary on Monday and wanted to withdraw cash during her office break. But she was shocked to see most of the ATMs near her office with 'no cash’ boards.

“We have had enough of this demonetisation. I don’t know how to pay my house owner, who accepts only cash and has to be paid within fifth of every month,” she said. When Deccan Chronicle contacted bank officials, they refused to reveal the reason behind the sudden cash crunch across Bengaluru.
