SCB breaks out in water protests
Around 60,000 to 70,000 new connections will be given out in the month of April this year.
Hyderabad: Residents on Monday held protests at the Marredpally ground reservoirs following a severe water shortage in the Cantonment limits.
Krishank Manne, a resident, said: “There is a severe water crisis in several wards as the Cantonment is not receiving the promised 68 lakh gallons of water. So many households are getting water just once in five days, even once in a week. Water Board Officials must release the Cantonment’s fair share and the Cantonment should distribute it.”
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city, speaking about the Urban Mission Bhageeratha, Managing Director M. Dana Kishore informed that 1 lakh new water connections will be approved before summer sets in.
“Around 60,000 to 70,000 new connections will be given out in the month of April this year. With regard to the daily water scheme, the board on Monday conducted a trial run in Autonagar and Nadigadda Tanda.
“Based on these results, more areas in the city will be added in the list for the daily water supply,” he said.
