Vijayawada: The Telugu Desam government has been selling plots at double the rate, alleged YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during his padayatra.

He alleged that one square foot of a flat was worth Rs 1,000 while the ruling government was selling it to the poor at Rs 2,000. So, the poor were shelling out Rs 6 lakh for a flat worth Rs 3 lakh. The Centre is paying the state government Rs 1.5 lakh while the state government would pay Rs 1.5 lakh. The rest would be written off, he said. The common man is now forced to pay this amount over 20 long years over through EMIs.

Mr Reddy has promised to waive the Rs 3 lakh debt to be repaid over 20 years, as soon as the YSRC comes to power. The poor need not pay the monthly amount for clearing the loan as the government will waive the loan, he asserted.
