COIMBATORE: The BJP president Mr. Amit Shahji, would visit the textile city of Coimbatore for two days from May 11, in a bid to strengthen the saffron party.  Briefing reporters here on his programme on Wednesday, Ms. Vanathi Srinivasan,

Vice-president of BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit, made clear that Amit Shahji’s visit was “part of his 95-day pan-India tour.” The aim of this tour is to expand and strengthen the presence of the BJP across India,” Ms. Vanathi said.

The BJP president on the second day of his visit on May 12 would meet leading industrialists, educationists, entrepreneurs, heads and representatives of various associations, trade and industry bodies. About 2,000 VIPs are expected to attend this meeting, she said.

In view of the upcoming local body elections in Tamil Nadu, one of the journalists asked Ms. Vanathi if BJP was  adopting backdoor route to come to power in the state. Pat came her reply: “this state lacks a stable leadership. The aim of the BJP is transparent governance and development of the people of this country.

Following demonetisation, the I-T department has conducted raids across the country. It is wrong to say that such raids are motivated by the BJP in Tamil Nadu.

Also there is enough proof that a member from the ruling party from Tamil Nadu has attempted to offer one of the election officials money, in exchange to hold on to a party symbol.

It was reported that the arrest of those involved in this act was motivated by the BJP. Only those who are trying to defame the BJP are spreading such rumors (about BJP) among the public. I would like to reiterate that this state lacks a stable leader and it is time for a political change to happen in Tamil Nadu.”
