Thiruvananthapuram: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy has demanded  an inquiry into the disappearance of IMG director T. P. Senkumar's order  in the Puttingal fireworks tragedy.  Mr Chandy, in a letter sent to  chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, wanted to know how Mr Senkumar’s directions had  gone missing from the file and who were behind the incident.

The LDF government had removed Mr  Senkumar as state police chief alleging that he had failed to carry out his duties regarding the Puttingal  tragedy.

“In the secretariat file No - 32931/F1/home dated  April 13, 2016, the then home secretary and additional chief secretary's directions were submitted before the then home minister, Ramesh Chennithala. It was marked in the file that it should be seen by the CM which was done,” said Mr Chandy.

A judicial probe was immediately initiated and the investigation was handed over to the CBCID, he said.
