Telangana: Aadhar link to help implement penalty points
An official said the process was under trial and the Transport Department would share server details with traffic wings in a week.
Hyderabad: A delay in implementation of the penalty points’ system may be in the offing, but officials of Telangana State Transport Department have said that their IT wing has upgraded the software to meet requirements of the government order. The RTA has installed a new database comprising records related to penalty points along with details of motorists such as name, driving licence number, address, expiry date of driving licence, and others.
An official said the process was under trial and the Transport Department would share server details with traffic wings in a week. “Meanwhile, the traffic police is gearing up Aadhar seeding with driving licence and motor vehicle to collect mobile phone numbers of licence holders. The Transport Department has mobile numbers of those who registered their vehicles and obtained driving licences after 2012. Mobile numbers of motorists who obtained RC and DL before 2012 are not available. Aadhar will be a useful tool to the enforcement wings to implement the penalty points’ system,” the official said.
