97.84 per cent success in SSLC exam in Kerala
Number of students who appeared for the examinations last year was 4,55,453.
Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 97.84 per cent students qualified for higher studies as per the SSLC examination results which were announced on Thursday. This was two per cent more than the last year. Last year; the pass percentage was 95.98 per cent. The results were announced by education minister C. Raveendranath at a press conference here. Of the 4,41,103 students who appeared for the SSLC examinations, as many as 4,31,162 have been declared eligible for higher studies (EHS). Number of students who appeared for the examinations last year was 4,55,453.
Mr Raveendranath said that naturally, there is a decline in number of students who appeared for the examination this year. However, percentage of students who have become eligible for higher studies has increased. The number of students who secured A+ for all subjects and the number of schools where all the students become eligible for higher studies have also improved this year,’’ the minister said.
As many as 34,313 students secured A+ for all subjects, against 20,967 students last year. Of the 2,754 students who wrote the examinations as private candidates, 2,084 were eligible for higher studies. This was 75.67 per cent of the total candidates. Of the nine centres in Gulf region, 544 students wrote the examination with 538 students becoming eligible for higher studies. The pass percentage is 98.9 per cent.
Of the nine centres in Lakshadweep region, 789 students wrote the examination with 655 students becoming eligible for higher studies. The pass percentage is 83.02 per cent. The pass per cent for Technical Higher School Leaving Certificate (THSLC) is 98.6 per cent, SSLC (Hearing impaired) 98.9 per cent , THSLC(HA) 100 per cent and Arts HSSLC at Kerala Kalamadalam 89.6 per cent.
The preparations of the announcement of Kerala SSLC results were completed on Tuesday itself. Employees of the Pareeksha Bhavan worked overtime on Tuesday for this though it was a holiday on account of May Day. The results are now available on the official website of the Kerala Board of Public Examinations (KBPE) - http://kbpe.org.
