Hyderabad: Officials of the Telangana State Wakf Board and Revenue department on Thursday took up the survey of the land belonging to the Qutb Shahi Masjid at Alijapur in Golconda. Tension prevailed at the place in the afternoon when the local legislator Kauser Mohiuddin and TS Wakf Board officials asked people not to offer prayers for a day in the mosque as the revenue officials were carrying on a survey on the land.
However, they relented later when the crowds surged and wanted to offer the “namaz” at the mosque. TS Wakf Board Chairman, Mohammed Saleem said that the mosque dates back to the Qutb Shahi era and is registered with the TS Wakf Board for last several decades. “As per our Gazette, two mosques are located in the area and around 2,500 sq yards of land is endowed to it. A joint inspection has been done by the revenue officials and TS Wakf Board Task Force team and the mosque land was demarcated,” said Mr Saleem.
