Change your name first: BJPs’ jibe at Sitaram Yechury
Yechury attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for “fragmenting society for votes†through its “divisive policiesâ€.
New Delhi: CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has came under attack from the BJP and its ally Shiv Sena over his remarks that the Ramayana and Mahabharata are “filled with instances of violence”.
While Shiv Sena said it is the CPI(M) leader’s ideology “to attack Hindus and make oneself the premier secular person”, the BJP asked Mr Yechury to first change his name, which is based on two Hindu gods.
Reacting to the leader’s remarks, Sena’s Sanjay Raut said, “Ramayana and Mahabharata conve-yed one central message — victory of good over evil, truth over falsehood. Ram, Krishna and Arjun are symbols of truth. If this is the meaning that they interpret, tomorrow they will say our soldiers fighting against Pakistan is violence. When we defend ourselves against Pakistani acts of terror n Kashmir, is that violence.” He added that Mr Yechury’s ideology is his “own ideology” that his ideology has “only one objective: to attack Hindus.
