DGP directs police to be vigilant against left-wing extremism

Hyderabad: Director General of Police Anjani Kumar directed police to be vigilant against left-wing extremism following the landmine blast in South Bastar in which 10 security personnel and a civilian were killed in a landmine blast.

The DGP conducted a video conference with the officers working in Maoist-affected districts and said that any small incident relating to law and order would have a severe impact on the development of Telangana state.

The DGP advised officers to be alert at all times. He said that left-wing extremism had disappeared in Telangana due to the efforts of the police. DGP said that since there is 80 per cent of newly recruited policemen, they should be more alert to Maoist strategies, actions and attacks.

The DGP briefed officials on key points with relation to Maoist activities.
Additional DGP (Operations) Vijay Kumar said that special training will be arranged for PSOs who are drafted to cover VIPs. IG Prabhakar Rao said the situation of extremism in the state and the security measures to be taken by the police were comprehensively explained through a presentation.
