New heritage policy for Telangana

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government is coming out with a new heritage policy. The draft heritage policy will also include modifications to existing Acts to protect archaeological sites, artefacts, literature and rock formations across the state.

“The draft policy is under preparation and will be unveiled in the next 10 to 15 days. We will also be seeking opinions from heritage activists and organisations. The government’s aim is to protect all historical sites, and items. We are also considering incentives to those who are helping conserve our heritage and at the same time enhanced punishments for violators of law,” A .B. Venkatesam, from the Tourism and Culture department said.
