Drinking water supply to houses in 169 habitations under Mission Bhagiratha will start by August 30.
ADILABAD: Drinking water supply to houses in 169 habitations under Mission Bhagiratha will start by August 30 of this year in the district. The state government has postponed launching the water supply to every housing scheme by one month due to delay in completion of works. The state government had originally given deadline as July 30 for launching supply of drinking water to houses under Mission Bhagirata.
Efforts are being made to give water supply to 169 habitations in Luxettipet, Kerameri, Laxamanchanda and Nirmal mandals under the first phase of the scheme. Pipe laying works are in progress and RWS will install taps in the habitations after completion of water grid pipe laying works. Construction works of only Kadem intake well have been completed so far and Yellampalli, Komurambheem and Nirmal are yet to be completed.
Rural Water Supply superintendent engineer, Shankar said they were planning to visit Gajwel in Medak represented by the Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao to see the model drinking water supply scheme there and replicate it in Adilabad. The higher officials asked the district officials to take steps to supply drinking water to 116 habitations instead of 66 in Kerameri mandal under the first phase.
Government schemes Mission Bhagirata, Mission Kakatiya and Dalit Basti initiated by the Telangana government are under way while double bedroom yet to take off in the district. Collector Jagan Mohan instructed officials of the water grid to complete the pipe laying work passing through agriculture fields before the crops grow as otherwise people will not allow them to lay pipelines. He also promised to take up the issue of blasting at 19 places to lay water grid pipelines with top police officials, to secure permission.
