Bengaluru: Mayor G. Padmavathi and other BBMP officials formed separate teams and inspected BBMP-run nurseries at Kempapura, Attur, Sumanahalli, Jnana Bharathi, Hessarghatta and Kudlu, which are gearing up to supply 10 lakh saplings to citizens for free.

Ms Padmavathi, who inspected the preparations at the Kempapura nursery, said that the civic body is confident of supplying 10 lakh saplings to citizens to be planted in their neighbourhood this rainy season. The citizens can choose the variety and number of saplings on the BBMP's "Green App". She directed officials to update her on the status at all other nurseries.

"We have been receiving an overwhelming response for the saplings from citizens from different pockets of the city. Preparations are on in full swing to distribute all 10 lakh saplings before this rainy season," said Ms Padmavathi. She said that with such initiatives, Bengaluru will retain its Garden City tag.
