KOLLAM: The intra-party tussle within the Congress took a turn for the worse in Pathanamthitta Municipality with the District Congress Committee, in a letter, seeking the ouster of current chairperson Rajani Pradeep Kumar, claiming that her term was over.  However, Ms. Rajani refuted the claim and clarified that she will continue in the post. She also alleged that personal motives were behind the demand for her resignation.

Ms. Rajani was informed by the DCC that her term of two years as chairperson got over on May 31 and demanded her resignation. “There is no such agreement made by the DCC. If such agreement existed, that should be registered in the minutes and will be noticed by the councillors. I am not aware of such a condition,” Rajani Pradeep said.

“Now they are claiming that an agreement exists and I am being threatened that I will be ousted from the post. I won’t give in to their pressure,” Ms. Rajani added.
There are some vested interests behind the move by the DCC. I have not been informed of such a condition and hence have all the right to continue, she said. The issue has intensified even as the KPCC leadership tried to resolve it at the DCC level.
