Special officer for land acquisition
Many projects are getting delayed due to slow land acquisition.
Hyderabad: In order to speed up land acquisition, the GHMC has proposed to constitute an independent wing headed by a special collector. A joint collector or district revenue officer rank officer will be deputed with a team of 42 members. The proposal has been sent to the government.
According to a GHMC official, minister K.T. Rama Rao during a recent review meeting had wanted a plan to speed up land acquisition as infrastructure projects worth Rs 80,000 crore had been taken up in the city.
It was brought to Mr Rao’s notice that land acquisition was the major hurdle for the progress of infrastructure projects including Strategic Road Development Project, Musi Riverfront Develo-pment Project and 2BHK housing project.
The corporation has to deal through the district collectors which is a lengthy process. In order to simplify the process, a special collector will deal with land acquisition issues with the collectors of Hyderabad, Medchal, Ranga Reddy and Sangareddy districts. The officer will report directly to the GHMC commissioner.
