Coimbatore: Kin seek collector’s help to preserve victim’s body

Coimbatore: The family of the deceased cashier of Martin Group of Companies, T. Palanisamy, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a pond near Karamadai on May 3, has petitioned Coimbatore collector K. Rajamani, demanding that the body be preserved till the court-supervised second post-mortem report is released.

The petition was submitted to the Collector by Santhamani, late Palanisamy’s wife, and her sons Rohin Kumar and Praveen Kumar, on Monday. In the petition, the family requested the collector to ensure that the post-mortem report is issued at the earliest.

Reiterating in the petition that the demise of Palanisamy is a case of murder and not a natural death as is being portrayed, the family urged the collector to ensure that the respective police officials conduct an enquiry with the suspects listed by the family, who could be involved in the murder.

According to the family, a few of them are from the Income Tax department and some are working with the Martin Group of Companies. The petitioners also sought protection against Nagaraj, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Karamadai police station, who was reportedly threatening the family stating that Palanisamy’s body will be disposed off, if not claimed by the family.

Speaking to DC after submitting the petition, Rohin Kumar, said, “We were asked by the collector to submit a copy of the petition to the dean, Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, which was accepted by him.”

The team is in the process of collecting the video recordings of the second autopsy and the family is expecting to have the report in two weeks’ time. The family is of the strong view that the death was a foul play, and is adamant that they would not claim the body until the case is investigated in a fair manner.

KISAN SABHA PLEA: A section of members of All India Kisan Sabha led by its district president Su Palanaswami submitted a petition to collector K Rajamani urging him to take necessary action against pollution causing units that are involved in burning coconut husks to obtain charcoal.

Many such units are located close to the Oraathu Kuppai village in Madukarai circle, Chettipalayam panchayat are involved in such an activity that causes air pollution, thus, impacting the lives of the residents, the petition stated. Farmers came with garlands made from coconut shells to symbolically protest the health issued caused by such units.
