Parent-Teacher Associat-ion should provide security guards at every school and they can be drawn from the pool of ex-servicemen. Unauthorised people should not be let in during school hours and schools without compound walls should have them soon.
Be mindful to correct students, not punish them. Teachers should interact with parents; councillors should give proper instructions to students. Teachers should mentor five students each. Only students with strong addiction should be sent to de-addiction centres. Schools should devise programmes to bring back dropouts.
General Education Secretary A Shajahan said all schools would have complaint boxes to facilitate information about substance under Vimukthi. Students and teachers would have opportunities monthly classes and debates using hi-tech facilities in schools.
