Unpredictable Weather: Heat Wave Alert and Heavy Rains Create Confusion in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The weather continued to confuse and confound on Sunday: Just as the IMD issued a heat wave alert for two days as the mercury stayed past the 45ºC mark, the skies opened up in several places across the state.
Hyderabad stayed cloudy throughout, and the several areas witnessed heavy rain and the mercury fell by 3ºC from Saturday.
The IMD has said that heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Mancherial, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Adilabad and Mahbubabad.
On the other hand, weather systems over south Chattisgarh would bring moderate rains and thundershowers at isolated places over five days, the IMD said and issued a yellow alert.
On Sunday, Jayashankar Bhupalpally was the hottest at 45.5ºC, followed by Peddapalli at 45.1ºC and Mahbubabad at 45ºC.
In the city limits, it was 39.4ºC in Quthbullapur. Scattered rains and thunderstorms were reported from Patancheru, Quthbullapur, Serilingampally, Kapra, Alwal, Mehdipatnam, Khairatabad, Malkajgiri, Moosapet, Hayatnagar, Kukatpally, Chanda Nagar and nearby areas.
Districts of Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jangaon, Kumaram Bheem, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Narayanpet, Nirmal, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Adilabad, Jagtial, Kamareddy, Khammam, Mahbubabad, Mancherial Medak, Sangareddy, Siddipet and Vikarabad also received light to moderate rainfall.
