Bengaluru: 3 cops suspended for dereliction of duty

BENGALURU: Three police personnel attached to Hoskote police station have been suspended for dereliction of duty in connection with a case in which three minor boys were stripped and assaulted by a group of 6-7 men, who accused the boys of stealing money from a shop in Ambedkar Colony. Those suspended have been identified as Sub Inspector Dayanand, Head Constables Raju and Jayaram.
Bengaluru Rural district SP Amit Singh told DC, “Three policemen have been suspended after preliminary internal probe revealed their negligence in handling the case. It has been found that they did not register the case when the incident was brought to their notice. They also did not inform the higher ups about the gravity of the case.”
Singh further said the case has been registered under the provisions of the POCSO Act and attempt to murder charges have also been pressed against the accused.
Meanwhile, Congress MLC V. S. Ugrappa, visited Hoskote police station on Sunday evening and enquired about the case. He told reporters that the negligence of policemen has been established.
