Visitors rush to temporary Secretariat complex
Work on second floor of the building complex begins on Sunday.
Amaravati: The works of temporary Secretariat interim government complex are picking momentum with the starting of work on the second floor on Sunday.
The public in large numbers visited the Secretariat to see the interim government complex on Sunday making good use of the Holiday. The final interior decoration, air-conditioning, false ceiling and chambers’ partitions of the recently opened fifth block is progressing. The works of construction of lifts is still pending and the site engineers are stating that rains as the cause for the delay in the works.
The laying of tiles on the second floor of the fifth block started on Sunday morning after completion of flooring works. The ceiling experts started the false ceiling construction with plaster of Paris coating.
The public in large numbers from Vijayawada, Guntur, Amaravati and other areas went to Velagapudi to see the temporary Secretariat complex in their own vehicles and APSRTC-run city buses. Workers K. Madhu and others said that the public rush was creating disturbance to the ongoing works and it is also a cause of delay besides rains. They added that the workers and engineers are working in three shifts to ready the fifth block for full-fledged working of the Secretariat employees.
Natives of Vijayawada D. Srinivas and others said that the public is coming with curiosity to see the temporary Secretariat but the security is stopping them claiming disturbance to ongoing works. They said that everybody wants to see the capital. So the public should be allowed during day time to see the Secretariat.
Meanwhile, minister for medical and health Dr. K. Srinivas is going to visit the temporary Secretariat on Monday at 10.30 am. The minister will further conduct a review meeting in the Secretariat with the officials of medical and health department.
