Bengaluru: Sri Rama Sene president Pramod Muthalik on Monday was booked for propagating hatred and enmity between two communities and warning of bloodshed if iftar is organised in any temple or mutt premises.

In a protest staged by his organisation on Sunday near Maurya Junction against the iftar organised at Udupi’s famed Krishna temple by Pejawar seer Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji during Ramzan, Muthalik said that his outfit will not, at any cost, allow iftars or Muslim prayers on any temple or mutt premises.

“We are ready to stop such activities even at the cost of our blood and we are also ready to spill blood if it happens again,” he said. The police had registered cases against him under IPC Section 153 (a) (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony.), 295 (a) (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji had organised an iftar and facilitated for Muslims to pray in Sri Krishna Mutt premises on June 24.
