Hyderabad: As reported earlier in the Deccan Chronicle regarding the emergence of internal colony gates in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) and the problems that they are creating, these gates have been objected to by the military personnel.

The colony gates are disrupting the traffic and disconnecting colonies from each other.

Public are at great inconvenience because of these gates.

A newly-constructed colony gate at Ramgopal Enclave at Mahatmanagar of Ward 6, opposite Ashoka Gardens, has been questioned by the Army.

Ramgopal Enclave only gave a written representation regarding the gate, but the Cantonment has not given any permission.

It still went ahead and built it.

The Cantonment also doesn’t have the power to give permission to build such gates in the colony.

In order to close any gate, proper procedure, according to the Cantonments Act, should be followed.

There are such internal colony gates at other colonies of Cantonment like Railway colony, Gunrock colony, Icrisat  colony and others. There are nearly 50 such internal colony gates in the SCB according to the sources.
