Security remains lax at Koti Maternity Hospital
The vigilance of the guards is limited and most of them are missing from their posts after 6 pm.
Hyderabad: Security lapse continues at Koti Maternity Hospital where there were no guards near the post-operative ward and the main gate after 2 pm on Tuesday. The guards who are to be stationed at these gates were nowhere to be found and women were seen entering and leaving the hospital without any hindrance.
The nurses who manage the post-operative ward and the general ward said that they were under tremendous pressure after the kidnapping of a baby on Monday. A senior nurse at the hospital said, “In the morning hours, the security personnel are vigilant and checking those who are entering and leaving the hospital. But post-noon, there is no one at the gate and we have to check who is coming into the ward and going out. The incident on Monday has put a lot of us under pressure and all units have been asked to be on alert.”
The vigilance of the guards is limited and most of them are missing from their posts after 6 pm.
Doctors too have complained about lapses from time to time. With the CCTV cameras installed, it has become easier to monitor the movement of patients and attendants and also note the entry of any outsiders on the hospital premises. But a security guard on duty helps to control the situation at the gate and ensure that the number of entries is restricted.
