Vijayawada: Endowments minister Vellampalli Srinivas and Vijayawada municipal commissioner Prasanna Venkatesh on Wednesday toured several areas in the city and directed officials to address the problems faced by the people, especially in I-Town area.
The minister inspected RR Appa Rao road, Amma Hotel centre, Convent road, Gandhi Park, Prakash market, Wynchipet Urdu School, Nizam’s Gate, Rotary Nagar, Kabela road, outflow drain near Chanumolu Venkat Rao bridge that join the Budameru and other areas of the West Assembly constituency.
Mr Srinivas told the commissioner that the roads that were dug for laying the underground drainage pipeline in the area were causing severe inconvenience to motorists.
Mr Venkatesh directed the officials concerned to complete the underground drainage works as soon as possible. He also told officials of the engineering department to prepare an estimate for laying CC roads.
The municipal commissioner also directed them to lay a walking track and install gym at the Gandhi Park.
Later, the minister inspected the outflow drainage at Urdu school, Nizam’s Gate and told the officials concerned to take appropriate measures for free flow of drainage water as the monsoon has set in.
Mr Venkatesh gave a few suggestions to officials to expand the drainage at Kabela road outflow drainage which joins the Budameru and sees that rainwater does not stagnate at the colonies nearby.
Sanitary inspector K.S. Ramamurthy, VMC chief medical officer K. Arjuna Rao, EE K. Koteswara Rao and others were present.
