Chennai: Firm to pay Rs 13 lakh solatium to mother of deceased
A tempo traveller proceeding in the opposite direction rammed into two-wheeler and he sustained serious injuries.
Chennai: The Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Chennai, has directed a private insurance firm to pay a compensation of Rs 13.71 lakh to the mother of a marketing executive killed in a mishap four years ago.
In the petition, E. Shanthi, Mel Kachirapattu village, Tiruvannamalai district has submitted that her son E. Rajesh, 21, who completed BBA and was working as a marketing executive in a private company in Chennai, was earning of Rs 20,000 per month and receiving a daily batta of Rs 100 as conveyance allowance.
On September 1, 2013, at about 12.30 pm, he was riding a two-wheeler on Kannigaiper village in Tiruvallur district. A tempo traveller proceeding in the opposite direction rammed into two-wheeler and he sustained serious injuries. Immediately, he was rushed to the Government Stanely Hospital and the doctors declared that he was brought dead.
She said the accident occurred only due to the careless, rash and negligent driving by the driver of the vehicle, which belonged to N. Ayyasamy, Madurai. Periyapalayam police registered a case against the driver.
In the petition, Shanthi sought direction to the owner of the vehicle and Shriram General Insurance Company Ltd, T.Nagar, the insurer of the vehicle, to pay a compensation of Rs 30 lakh.
