Vijayawada/Hyderabad: The Canara Bank auction notice with regard to PVP Capital Limited and involving industrialist and YSRC candidate Potluri V. Prasad triggered reactions from Opposition leaders. Mr Prasad had joined the YSR Congress in the run-up to the elections in Andhra Pradesh.

Telugu Desam MP Kesineni Nani, who defeated Mr Praasad, tweeted to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy stating that the financial status of banks and the country was not good at present and advised him to ask his supporter — an oblique reference to Mr Prasad — to clear all bank loans worth of thousands of crores of rupees before advising others.

Mr Nani also cautioned that Mr Prasad would meet the fate of industrialist Nimma-gadda Prasad, who has been arrested in Serbia following a red corner notice issued by the UAE of Ras al Khaimah.

Replying to the tweet, Mr Prasad said he felt proud to share that he was one of the highest individual tax payer in Andhra Pradesh and challenged those who are making sarcastic comments, to pay similar tax in 90 years.

In a tweet, Telugu Desam's Kodela Naani Yadav said one could not become a great man just by paying tax as there were several people who defaulted on bank loans and claimed to be great men in the country. He advised PVP to clear bank dues.
